Sustainability

Creative Eye Design + Build remains at the forefront of Sustainable Building.

Continuing to lead the way in the fight against climate change and protecting the environment, California adopted mandatory building regulations for all new construction in the state that will achieve major reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, energy consumption, and water use. As of January 1, 2011, the CALGREEN Code is the nation’s first Statewide Green Building Standards Code.

Susan Vannatter Prang served on Mayor Kevin Johnson’s Sacramento Green Building Task Force in 2010-2011. The Green Building Task Force is designed to provide a method and a structure to conduct research, gather input, and work collaboratively to develop practical recommendations for our region. Susan is a LEED AP (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional) and a CGBP (Certified Green Building Professional – BuildItGreen).

Green, low-impact living is the future, especially in Sacramento with Mayor Kevin Johnson’s push for green construction. With the adoption of the CalGreen Code in January 2011, all structures are required to abide by greener, more effective, and more efficient practices that can help us combat our current and future environmental woes. Why are Americans suddenly beginning to see the tremendous benefits of green construction? Not only does going green in your business or home benefit the environment, it can also be advantageous to your wallet, as such a conservation of resources and energy also means a conservation of the money in your pocket due to lower energy bills. In fact, on a monthly basis, a green home has a lower operating cost than a conventional home because of the decline of energy bills and maintenance costs. So the question now becomes, “What are you waiting for?”

EPA requires that firms performing renovation, repair, and painting projects that disturb lead-based paint in pre-1978 homes, child care facilities, and schools be certified by EPA and that they use certified renovators who are trained by EPA-approved training providers to follow lead-safe work practices. Creative Eye Design-Build is an EPA Lead-Safe Certified Firm.

“A big thanks to Susan and the Creative Eye Design + Build team for supporting the ReUse Store and helping their clients donate salvaged materials to our program. Not only are you helping keep usable materials out of the landfill, but you’re also helping us fund the education and work training programs we provide to young adults. We appreciate you for putting in the time and doing the extra work needed to salvage these materials and are grateful for your support of the environment and our programs. The SRCC ReUse Store Team”
